Surrey LUG is a friendly Linux user group. If you have any interest in Linux, GNU (or related systems such as *BSD, Solaris, OpenSolaris, etc) and are based in Surrey, then come along to one of our meetings! New members are always very welcome, no matter what your skill level, even if you're just looking for a different system from the one that came installed on your computer.

I'm going to FOSDEM, the Free and Open Source Software Developers' European MeetingFOSDEM is the biggest free and non-commercial event organized by and for the community. Its goal is to provide Free and Open Source developers a place to meet.

This year's event is on 4th and 5th February at at the ULB Campus Solbosch, Brussels, Belgium. Registration is not necessary.

We have regular sessions on the second Saturday of each month. Bring a 'box', bring a notebook, bring anything that might run Linux, or just bring yourself and enjoy socialising/learning/teaching or simply chilling out!

Software Freedom Day

"SFD is a worldwide celebration of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS). Our goal in this celebration is to educate the worldwide public about the benefits of using high quality FOSS in education, in government, at home, and in business -- in short, everywhere! The non-profit organization Software Freedom International coordinates SFD at a global level, providing support, giveaways and a point of collaboration, but volunteer teams around the world organize the local SFD events to impact their own communities."
