- Gentoo: uses emerge package manager to build all packages from source
- Knoppix: the original live CD distribution
- Mandriva: rpm-based distro

- Puppy Linux: live CD / USB stick distribution designed for use in multiple machines
- Enterprise Linux from Oracle (requires registration)
